Voco Orchard Singapore Hotel Review

Last year, we stayed at Pan Pacific Orchard Singapore during the Eras Tour. It was part of the Eras Tour Package I booked from Klook. This year, I bought a Lady Gaga Mayhem Klook Package. As usual, I opted for a 5-Star Package. This time though, I picked Voco Orchard Singapore as the hotel paired with the concert tickets.

I was impressed by Voco Orchard Singapore’s service from the get go. We arrived at the hotel at 9:30am and we were checked in right away, although we were informed that our room was not ready yet. We were each given a free spiced cookie lol (it was yummy by the way). They said they will message me via Whatsapp once the room as ready which was great. We were hungry from the early morning flight and wanted to get a nice brunch before anything else. We walked over to Bacha Coffee at Ion Orchard which was 5 minutes away from the hotel. By 10:30am, Voco messaged me to say our room was ready. Wow! How’s that for early check-in??? I wasn’t a member or anything so I found it impressive considering normal check-in time is 3pm.

Voco Orchard SingaporeWe were assigned a room with a King-sized bed at check-in. I assumed it was the room that would be available soonest so I said okay. The room is immaculately clean, large, and spacious. The airconditioning is wow, no matter where I set the thermostat it’s always cold… just the way I like it. It’s the complete opposite of Ibis Ambassador Seoul Myeongdong where the thermostat is forever stuck at 22-23C. The bed is super comfy, perhaps the best hotel bed I’ve been on. Ditto the pillows, these are the best hotel pillows I’ve slept on. The hotel’s unlimited free wifi is fast too. It’s super easy to cast your mobile phone onto the big screen TV.

Voco Orchard SingaporeThere’s a study table with outlets so you can easily work with your laptop if needed.

Voco Orchard SingaporeBoth sides of the bed have an outlet and light switches.

Voco Orchard SingaporeThere’s an Illy coffee machine and an electric kettle.

Voco Orchard SingaporeThey provide free Illy coffee capsules, TWG tea bags, Biscoff cookies, and sweetener sticks.

Voco Orchard SingaporeThe room also comes with a hair dryer, electronic safe, clothes iron, and 2 pairs of slippers.

Voco Orchard SingaporeThe bathroom is furnished with toiletries, dental and vanity kits, and towels.

Voco Orchard SingaporeThere’s a bath tub too. The shower comes with instructions on the wall on how to get your preferred water temperature right, which I appreciated. There’s usually a bit of guesswork on how to turn on the heat and this eliminates it. It made showering a lot easier.

Voco Orchard SingaporeThere’s unlimited drinking water in the bathroom marked as filtered drinking water on tap, which is good. I find having to buy bottled water and lugging it to the hotel room very cumbersome.

Voco Orchard Swimming PoolThe swimming pool area is where Voco Orchard loses out to Pan Pacific Orchard and Marina Bay Sands. The pool itself is tiny and underwhelming. It came across as more of an afterthought. I don’t think you can swim decent laps since the pool length is quite short. It’s also not nice enough that you’d want to spend time there.

Voco Orchard Singaporevoco_orchard_hotel13Voco Orchard Singapore’s breakfast buffet is excellent. They have an egg station, noodle station (the kind of noodles served change daily), fresh fruits, cereals, every kind of bread and spread imaginable (housemade sea salt kaya, anyone?). The usual bacon, potatoes, baked beans, etc are also present. There’s also freshly brewed Illy coffee and TWG tea, some juices, and a variety of milks. I thought it was a lot better than the breakfast buffet of Pan Pacific Orchard.

I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels in Singapore over the years — The Mandarin Hotel (now Hilton Singapore Orchard), Mandarin Oriental, Marina Bay Sands, Pan Pacific Orchard… I think Voco Orchard Singapore is the best in terms of location, service, and comfort. Since it’s actually on Orchard Road, it’s a 5-minute walk to Ion Orchard Mall and Orchard Station. There are a lot of establishments beside it, including 7-11, Cheers, and a 24-hour Starbucks which came in handy when we came back late from the concert. There’s a Fair Price Supermarket within walking distance as well. The staff are all very welcoming, accommodating, efficient, and helpful too. They even offered to lend us hotel umbrellas when it suddenly rained.

I booked Voco Orchard Singapore via Klook. A room for 2 people with breakfast costs about ₱15,000 a night inclusive of taxes. It’s not cheap but I got more bang for my buck compared to Pan Pacific Orchard where I paid almost ₱25,000 a night.

If I ever go back to Singapore, I would definitely book here again.
