Pan Pacific Orchard Singapore Review

Pan Pacific Orchard Singapore Hotel Review

I got lucky last July 2023 and scored a Klook Eras Tour Package. Such a package includes two tickets to the concert and one night stay in a partner hotel. There were 2 kinds of packages — 4-Star and 5-Star. I decided to queue up for the pricier 5-Star Package because I knew the line there was bound to be shorter on account of it being the pricier option. I queued my phone for the 5-Star Package where I was 8,000th in line. My computer logged in the 4-Star Package and I was 40,000th in line. I saw only two 5-Star hotels situated in the Orchard area — VOCO and Pan Pacific Orchard. Honestly VOCO looked old and dated so I went for the newly opened Pan Pacific Orchard.

I paid ₱62,000+ for the Klook package. The Category 2 concert tickets cost SG$338 each, approximately ₱14,000+ per ticket. There’s a Ticketmaster charge and some other taxes so that comes out to around ₱16,000+ per ticket.  That said, the rest (₱30,000) must be for the Premier Room with breakfast. After I got the package, I immediately booked flights to Singapore via Singapore Airlines. Roundtrip tickets were SG$399 before the Klook Eras Tour sale but immediately jumped to SG$495 per head afterwards. I decided to book the rest of our nights at the same hotel since we were just going to be there 4 days and 3 nights. I didn’t want to waste time changing locations. Upon checking, I found that the hotel website actually had the best prices for rooms. I booked a Deluxe Room for 2 additional nights at approximately SG$1,200.

Finally, we arrived in Singapore 10:45am, earlier than our ETA of 11am. Prior to flying, some newfound Singaporean friends advised me to e-mail the hotel to request for early check-in, since normal check-in time is 3pm. They said since I booked directly via the hotel website, I was categorized as a high priority guest. One of them used to work in an upscale SG hotel (Four Seasons Hotel if I remember correctly) and said the probability that I would be allowed to check-in early. I did as they suggested and the hotel replied saying if there were ready rooms available they would let me check-in early.

Pan Pacific OrchardWe got to Pan Pacific Orchard around 12nn. I requested early check-in. What do you know, not only was I granted my request, my Deluxe Room booking was upgraded to Premier Room since the Klook package included Premier Room. Klook did not disclose the room type in the package and just stated we would get whatever was available. I assumed they were giving us the cheapest Deluxe Room so that was what I booked, lol. Anyhow, I signed a confirmation and saw that my booking was now worth SG$580 + 9% GST per night. My original booking was SG$445 + 9% GST per night. Please note that the hotel requires a SG$1,500 refundable deposit via credit card.

Pan Pacific OrchardOur room was situated on the 14th floor. It’s 25sqm in size which was just right for 2 people. The bed was very comfortable, the pillows were fluffy. Everything was in pristine condition.

Pan Pacific OrchardThe bathroom was complete with all sizes of towels and toiletries. We had Diptyque hand soap and body lotion. Cotton buds, cotton pads, toothbrushes bundled with Colgate toothpaste… we did not need to buy anything outside.

Pan Pacific OrchardHere’s a look at our sink area. The toilet has a bidet.

Pan Pacific OrchardI was impressed that all the toiletries were Diptyque. I loved the body lotion especially. I’m normally not a fan but the Diptyque Body Lotion makes your skin feel so silky without any greasy or sticky feeling. They replenished it daily so I was able to take home 3 tubes of the body lotion. Normally I end up buying my own shampoo and conditioner because the hotel provides substandard ones. That is not the case here.

Pan Pacific OrchardWe had a Smart TV and a really nice mini bar area. Our room had everything we needed. We easily synched our phones to the Smart TV so we could watch shows from the streaming platforms we were subscribed to. The hotel free wifi is fast too.

Pan Pacific OrchardThe mini bar area was impressive. We had a water dispenser with heater, a Nespresso machine, complimentary TWG teas, Nespresso pods, Lavazza coffee, and even margarita.

pan_pacific_orchard13Another thing I liked about our room is the abundance of USB charging ports and outlets. We had 3 of these panels in our room if I’m not mistaken — one by each bedside and another one near the TV.

Pan Pacific Orchard SingaporeOn the fifth floor is the pool area. It’s so beautiful I almost regretted not bringing a swimsuit so we can try swimming there. This is one of the prettiest hotel pool areas I’ve seen. It’s super peaceful too. Marina Bay Sands’ pool area in comparison is like a noisy crowded marketplace.

Pan Pacific Orchard SingaporeThe pool even has a shoreline of sorts. It’s so well-designed.

Pan Pacific Orchard SingaporeOur Klook night had breakfast included so we had breakfast at the hotel on our last day.

Pan Pacific Orchard SingaporeThere’s a wide variety of breads, an egg station, a congee station as well as the usual fried stuff — ham, bacon, hash browns, etc. There’s also a small selection of Indian food and some short order dishes like rice, noodles, and viands. They have Lavazza coffee machines equipped with a grinder so coffee is freshly brewed. There are fruit juices too.

Pan Pacific Orchard SingaporeI quite enjoyed the cheeses and cold cuts. I also had bacon and baked beans. My daughter had an omelet made at the Egg Station. Food quality is good. Breakfast was enjoyable though I expected a bigger spread for the price (it’s SG$58 + 9% GST per person).

Location-wise, this hotel is good since it’s in the Orchard area. If you plan on taking Grab your entire stay, it’s perfect. But if you want to cut down on transpo expenses (a Grab ride is SG$10-15 on average whereas an MRT ride is only SG$1-1.50), the MRT Station is a 7-10 minute walk depending on your pace. The staff was nice enough to show us the hotel’s back entrance which is the shortcut to Ion Orchard Mall and the MRT Station but it’s still not as near we’d like. If you have seniors or children, it might be difficult to navigate.

It has become a habit for me to check hotel rates on all fronts prior to booking and that includes the hotel website itself. I knew the Eras Tour is a huge event and the likelihood of encountering problems is bigger than usual so I opted to book directly via the Pan Pacific Orchard website. Besides, the prices were similar to those of Agoda’s and Booking.com’s so in such case there really is not much of an advantage booking with a third party.

Check-out was a breeze. We were done in 5 minutes. All in all, we had a great stay at the Pan Pacific Orchard Singapore.

I have a Pan Pacific Orchard hotel tour on video HERE.

I booked our stay via https://www.panpacific.com/en/hotels-and-resorts/pp-orchard-sg.html and Klook.
