Samsung Philippines officially launched its most affordable Android to date, the Samsung Galaxy Star at P3,990.
I was totally blown away by the Samsung Galaxy Star. Imagine, for P3,990 you’re getting a smartphone with Android Jellybean, Dual Sim capability, Wi-fi connectivity, a built-in 2MP camera, and a 1GHz processor. Did I mention it’s a full touch screen phone too? As the Pinoy expression goes… saan ka pa?
The snazzy white Samsung Galaxy Star sure doesn’t look like it costs only P3,990, lol!
Add a thousand pesos more, for P4,990, you can get a Samsung Pocket Neo. It’s almost the same as the Samsung Galaxy Star with the addition of 3G connectivity.
Add several hundred pesos more and you can upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy Young for P5,490. It’s not a Dual Sim phone like the Star and Pocket Neo, but it has a bigger screen, a better camera at 3MP, plus 3G and Wi-fi connectivity.
Want a phone that does it all but doesn’t carry a 5-digit price tag? Go for the Samsung Galaxy Fame. It’s got the biggest screen size among all these new models at 3.5 inches, a 5MP back camera + a VGA front camera, 3G + Wi-fi, and it’s NFC and S-Beam capable. Samsung Galaxy Fame retails for a reasonable P7,490. It’s not Dual Sim though.
Waaah there was a game we played during the event, a Singing Bee type of contest onstage. I was called to be the 5th and last contestant. We were asked to sing phrases from songs, filling in the missing lyrics. Basically, the person who makes a mistake is eliminated. We had to sing Dancing Queen, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, and The Time of My Life. I was the last player left standing, LOL! Am I old or what? Wahahaha! Because of that, I got to take home a Samsung Galaxy Fame. Yoiks, on the day that I had to go to the office early with no time to primp and actually look decent… I had to go onstage for an impromptu concert!
After the contest Jim Paredes and Yeng Constantino performed for the audience. I really enjoyed their duet of Panalangin, an Apo Hiking Society classic, which also happens to be one of my favorite Filipino songs of all time. Woot!
Thank you Samsung Philippines for my new Samsung Galaxy Fame! It will probably not replace my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which I love too much (#BestPhoneEver) but it will most likely be my hubby’s second phone since he was about to buy one for office use.
Good news, you too can win a Samsung Galaxy Fame… or a Young, Pocket Neo, or Star… lol! Just like Samsung Mobile Philippines on Facebook to access the Samsung Galaxy of Fun app. There will be 10 winners of Samsung Android smartphones like those I’ve talked about above (as well as other cool prizes such as all access passes to the “By Request: Bamboo & Yeng The Concert”) so you better get your groove on and answer the question “What makes life more fun for you?”. You have until July 28 to join so JOIN NOW!
