I received a couple of newKUBE MP3 players to check out a couple of weeks ago. The deal was, I would review one and give away the other to my readers. 😀
Unboxing is fairly simple — there’s the unit itself, earphones with matching cushions, and a USB cable for connecting it to your computer.
All the buttons you need — volume up, volume down, track forward/backward, power on/off, play/pause can be found at the sides of the unit. This player is so user-friendly you don’t need to read the manual and there’s virtually no learning curve.
You can load your favorite songs into it simply by plugging via USB to your computer. There’s no complicated setup required, it works exactly the way a USB drive does — just plug it in and transfer your files by cutting or copying and pasting.
After filling it up with your favorite mp3 files, just plug in the earphones and listen. It has 1GB of storage so it can hold about 250 songs. I loaded it with David Guetta songs and it was a blast. Sound quality is surprisingly good for something so small. I could hear all the tiny techno details in David Guetta’s music. The only down side is volume control isn’t too refined. It totally mutes instead of going down to a whisper when you turn it down so there is a minimal volume by which you have to listen. The minimum volume is still a tad too loud for me but for most people I think it’s okay. A fully charged newKUBE can deliver up to 6 hours of non-stop music.
