Making Megamind 3D with the HP Deskjet 5525 Printer

Some days ago, I got a new printer from HP Philippines… specifically, the HP Deskjet 5525 e-All-in-One Printer. Prior to this we had been using the HP Photosmart C3180 (scanner-copier-printer) which I got several years back. We use the printer mainly for academic purposes (kids’ assignments, projects, papers, etc.).

With technology what it is today, we were just about ready for an upgrade. Our old printer still works but given that this new model is wifi-enabled and is compatible with tablets, smartphones, etc. it sure would make our lives so much more convenient.

I unboxed it right away. It came complete with manuals, photo papers, an installer CD, ink cartridges, a USB cable, and a power cable.

It has a built-in flatbed scanner that can accommodate documents the size of an A4 paper. You can either scan or make photocopies.

You install cartridges individually and it’s really easy! The printer’s display screen will show an animated video demo which shows how to do it.

So for our first test project, we checked the HP Ink Advantage Tab on HP Philippines’ Facebook Page. We went with Megamind 3D Cool Stuff… from the iPad! Call me a caveman but wow, it’s my first time to try printing something out from a mobile device, lol!

I was impressed. Everything came out quickly and beautifully. I didn’t even need to hook up a computer or laptop to do it… no wires except for the power cable. Where have you been all my life? Haha!

This Megamind 3D project is actually one way for my 12-year old son to pass the time this summer. He doesn’t want to go out that much (except to swim) because it’s too hot.

After we printed out all the components, he started cutting them out.

It took a while for everything to be cut. It comes with complete instructions you can follow. A lot of folding and pasting came next.

Cut, fold, paste, and put together in accordance to the instructions until you have this Megamind 3D model! Took us a good couple of hours to finish… the easiest part was printing it out.

Here’s a closer look. It’s soooo cool! My son and I enjoyed making it together. 😀

The HP Deskjet 5525 e-All-in-One Printer costs P7,990. It’s available at all leading computer stores nationwide.

You too can do cool projects like this at home. Log on to HP Philippines on Facebook to access the Creative Studio. I will be giving away three (3) HP Printers in the next couple of weeks and the contest mechanics will include liking HP Philippines on Facebook. Get your cameras ready because it’s going to be a photo contest!
