Because I’m useless in the kitchen, I’m pretty reliant on food delivery when our cook takes the day off. Last weekend was one such occasion, so I decided to order from City Delivery. I have actually tried their service a couple of times in the past for restos like Amici and D’Original Maki Haus among others but we were too hungry during those times so I didn’t blog about our experiences. All hubby and kids wanted to do was eat.
This time, I decided to order our dinner from Charlie’s Grind and Grill. I placed my order in advance. I called City Delivery’s hotline 87878 at about 1pm and told them I needed the food around 5:30-6:00PM. We usually have dinner at around 6:30PM on weekends so this would give me a bit of time to take photos of the food before everyone digs in haha! I logged on to http://www.citydelivery.ph in order to access Charlie’s Grind & Grill’s delivery menu.
Sure enough, the food arrived a few hours later, exactly between 5:30-6:00PM. Everything was in a big brown paper bag.
Each food item was individually wrapped in aluminum foil. I was quite impressed because Charlie’s Grind & Grill really paid attention to every last detail, even including the lemon wedge that’s served with the Cerveza Negra Fish and Chips (P235, pictured above) in the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by how big the fish fillet (cream dory) was too, so it’s definitely good for sharing. The fries are good old-fashioned real sliced potatoes, not the frozen variety. It comes with tartar sauce for dipping.
For hubby and son, I ordered burgers. Bacon Black Angus Cheeseburger (P245, pictured above) and Bacon Wagyu Cheeseburger (P255, also pictured above). Although both are great, for the P10 difference, I suggest getting the wagyu because it smells soooo good and it’s a tad more tasty. Both burgers have lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, Charlie’s special mayo-based sauce, and well, bacon. The burgers are very filling so both boys sliced off a bit for me to taste.
Burgers should go with fries, which is why I also ordered Garlic and Parmesan Fries (P135, pictured above). Fresh potatoes cooked with rock salt and ground black pepper then tossed in garlic mayonnaise and parmesan cheese. I kind of regret ordering it because although Charlie’s fries are super yummy, it actually had a lot of mayo which makes me feel queasy. It was written on the description at the City Delivery site but I overlooked it… my bad. Next time I will go for Chili Fries instead… an order is P10 cheaper to boot.
Of course, I can’t order from Charlie’s Grind and Grill and not have chicken! I had a half order of Buffalo Wings in Hot (P275, pictured above). The Buffalo Wings come in Sweet, Hot, and Nuclear. A half order contains six pieces, it’s either that or a dozen. I love how they didn’t forget to include the vegetable sticks which I love munching on. I totally loved the Buffalo Wings — they have just the right level of spicy-ness and the wings are pretty big and meaty. They come with bleu cheese dip too! 😀
I also decided to try ordering Charlie’s Deputy (P200, pictured above) because of the description I read on the menu. It’s basically a hot dog sandwich with barbecue-flavored pulled pork and cheddar cheese. It’s huge and it’s really good! My daughter and I shared it. You can’t see much of the cheese on top because it stuck to the aluminum foil the sandwich was wrapped in and I couldn’t get it off.
Yup, we had a nice and filling Sunday dinner thanks to Charlie’s Grind and Grill + City Delivery! Our food arrived hot, complete down to the last siding, and on time. Needless to say, I will definitely order from City Delivery again next time our cook takes the day off! 😀
