Mamou at Home in Gateway Mall 2

Our son celebrated his 24th birthday last Sunday. He said he wanted to have lunch at Mamou, so I made reservations for Mamou at Home in Gateway Mall 2. For our daughter’s birthday we had dinner at Grace Park Dining also in Gateway Mall 2.

Complimentary Bread BasketWe were first served some complimentary hot, freshly baked bread with butter. The bread is surprisingly good, I daresay they can hold a candle to Bread Street Kitchen Bangkok’s bread basket (it was by far the best we’ve had). Soft, fluffy, and with just the right level of neutrality (neither sweet nor salty) that it would go very well with butter.

Mamou at Home Gateway Mall 2We ordered salad to start us off — Healdsburg’s Harvest (₱475). Mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, candied pecans, dried cranberries, stilton cheese, and a creamy yet tangy berry dressing makes this salad one of the more unique ones we’ve had. It’s so good even the kids were polishing off their portions in record time.

Mamou at Home Gateway Mall 2For our main, we ordered Dry Aged USDA Prime Grade Bone-In Steak (₱6,590 for 800g). We had it cooked to Medium doneness. It was nicely done, with edges slightly charred around the tender reddish pink meat. I think we should have ordered the boneless 800g steak though lol since the bone is quite heavy.

Mamou at Home Gateway Mall 2You get to choose 2 sides to go with the steak. We opted for Creamed Spinach and Corn Pudding. Both were delicious.

Lorenzo's Truffle CreamOur carb of choice was Lorenzo’s Truffle Cream (₱495). Mamou still makes the best truffle pasta because it’s light, flavorful, and not cloying. The pasta is perfectly al dente too. Most restaurants make it too creamy so it’s harder to eat.

Just like all the other Mamou restaurants in the metro, Mamou at Home does not disappoint in terms of food and service. Servers are attentive and food comes out quickly even if it’s a full house. Reservations are recommended especially on weekends. I was surprised at how many tables were already reserved when we got there at 11am on a Sunday. Good thing hubby told me to reserve.
