Last May, my kids and I got the chance to visit the Selecta Factory in Pasig and attend an Ice Cream Cake Making Class with model, celebrity, and TV personality Amanda Griffin-Jacob.
Prior to this event I had already met Amanda quite a few times. I think she was still pregnant the last time. During this particular event, her son was already a toddler! Time really flies.
So anyway, we proceeded to the Selecta test kitchen where a buffet spread of sweets awaited. These sweets would serve as toppings for the ice cream cakes that we were going to make.
There were tables set up complete with ingredients and materials that we were going to use to make ice cream cakes. It was a pretty intimate affair… I think there were less than 10 mommy bloggers there.
Basically, you line the dish with graham crackers then spread the first flavor of ice cream over it. Cover with another layer of graham crackers and then spread the second flavor. Cover with another layer of graham crackers and then spread the last flavor over it (mango in this case).
I asked my kids to go over to the candy buffet and pick out the toppings they want. They got strawberries, kiwi, fruit-flavored cereal balls, gummy bears, chocolate chips, wafer sticks, candy sprinkles, and mallow cones.
Tadaa! Here’s our finished Selecta Ice Cream Cake. We were actually given insulated bags so we could take home our creation.
We were served perfectly made ice cream cakes too. I topped my slice with fruits.
