I was invited by Meralco to an intimate gathering of mommy bloggers last December 8, 2010 at SM Megamall.
I had an Espresso Crumble (more on my food and drink in another post) while waiting for the others. It took me an hour to get from Greenhills to SM Megamall because of the horrendous holiday traffic so I wasn’t surprised there were latecomers.
We had lunch at Bo’s then we were told that we would be transferring to a surprise venue…
…which turned out to be Beauty & Butter, a spa located on the same floor as Bo’s Coffee. We were given iPads with which to view the Meralco website so we could participate interactively in the following discussion.
Meralco representatives discussed the new website features and the MAC (Mac Appliance Calculator) as our feet were pampered with foot spa services which included a reflexology massage and a pedicure. Nice!
You can access the MAC or Meralco Appliance Calculator via the Meralco website at http://www.meralco.com.ph. The MAC is a tool for estimating how much your appliances contribute to your total electric bill on a per hour, per day, and per week basis. Appliances are grouped into several categories (general, cooking, lighting, entertainment, etc.). You need to fill in details like wattage and how often you use them so MAC can calculate the cost per kilowatt hour. This is very helpful if you’re trying to optimize your electrical consumption as it can show you where you can cut down.
Aside from the Appliance Calculator, there’s also a Bill Manager so you can actually input every single item that consumes electricity at home and then do an in-depth computation. You can even set your target bill amount in pesos and the Bill Manager will help you meet it.
All these tools and more can be accessed at http://www.meralco.com.ph — try it today! As for the spa services, I’ll post a separate account of my Beauty & Butter experience. 🙂
P.S. Fellow blogger Noemi and I experienced some issues trying to access and use the MAC on our HP Mini netbooks on WinXP using Google Chrome. If you ever have a chance to try it out let me know how it works for you. 🙂
