Disney Premier Access
September 10, 2025

Is the Hong Kong Disney Premier Access worth it?

When my daughter and I booked our tickets to Hong Kong for the NCT Dream’s The Dream Show 4, I booked 4 days and 3 nights — Aug. 28-31, 2025. The concert was happening on August 30. She suggested going to Hong Kong Disneyland since the last time we were there was almost a decade ago. Looking at the park map, I saw that a lot of new attractions had been added — Frozen, Iron Man, Ant Man & The Wasp… Plus it was Hong Kong Disneyland’s 20th anniversary. There were a lot of things going on like the much-talked-about Momentous fireworks and drone show at night.

HK Disney Premier AccessOkay so the thing is, every day is not the same at Hong Kong Disneyland. Days are classified into tiers, Tier 1 up to 4. Tier 1 would have the lightest crowd while Tier 4 would have the heaviest. I bought our admission tickets via Klook because it was cheaper compared to the HK Disneyland app and website. I got 20th Anniversary Celebration Tickets which came with free Disney 20th Anniversary Mini Party Hats which were actually bag charms. They cost me ₱4,400+ each on Klook whereas they were priced at ₱5,400+ on the HK Disneyland app and website.

I booked Friday August 29, ranked a Tier 2 day. A quick Google search confirmed that Hong Kong students’ summer vacation is Aug 1-31, 2025. They still had no classes on our scheduled day. That was enough to convince me to buy Disney Premier Access which comes with fast passes for 8 most popular attractions (includes Frozen, Ant Man, and Iron Man), a reserved timeslot for the show Mickey and the Wondrous Book, and VIP viewing area access for Momentous. Disney Premier Access cost HK$659 (₱4,800+) per person.

Some Redditors suggested checking the crowds on the day itself before deciding to buy since they don’t get sold out. Just know that if you buy on the day itself (I checked!), it would cost HK$799 (₱5,800+).

HK Disney Premier AccessYou can’t proceed with your Disney Premier Access purchase without reserving a timeslot for the show Mickey and the Wondrous Book. I’m so glad they included it because it would not have occured to me to go watch this. It was one of the highlights of our day, a full scale musical production to say the least. It has Mickey and Goofy leafing through a gigantic storybook where all the characters come to life. They all sing their most popular songs. Above in the photo are Rapunzel, Merida, and Ariel.

HK Disney Premier AccessThe reason I got this specific Disney Premier Access because of the Momentous VIP viewing area. I knew it was going to be torturous waiting in the park until 9pm. Didn’t want to torture myself further by squeezing myself into a crowded space just to watch the fireworks and drone show. The VIP queueing area opened at 7:45pm and we were the first in line. They let us in before 8:30pm and we were at the very front, with no heads or hands blocking our view. We had an unobstructed view that wasn’t crowded because our area was cordoned off. You can’t get in unless you have a VIP QR code.

Each person with Disney Premier Access is given a QR Code which is scanned at the VIP entrance of the show or ride. There was zero waiting time for us. I read on Reddit that on Tier 4 days there may still be waiting time (though a lot shorter than the normal queue) even with DPA due to the larger number of people who avail of it. The only times we queued up was for meals. I also bought meal vouchers from Klook unfortunately there are no shortcuts. For shorter lines, avoid major mealtimes like 12nn or 7pm.

Honestly, August 29 was such a hellishly hot day I felt we would not have survived until night time without DPA. Had we been forced to line up under the sun for hours, we might have gotten sick. By 2pm, all the lines were 60-90 minutes long. It was torturous waiting until 9pm. Only sheer willpower kept me in the park, I was itching to go back to the hotel by 6pm. Imagine if my Momentous view was shitty and I was stuck in an area where people were packed like sardines. I’m never staying in the park from opening to closing again lol. No regrets buying this, it’s just too bad the Pinoy tourist died on the Frozen ride that day (it hadn’t even started yet and he fainted already). The ride was closed off right away so we were not able to experience it.

Anyhow, when should you get Disney Premier Access?

  1. If your park day is classified as Tier 3 or Tier 4.
  2. If Hong Kong students are on vacation or they have no classes (weekends or holidays).
  3. If it’s mid-December onwards when everyone wants to spend the holidays in Hong Kong Disneyland.
  4. If you want to watch Momentous comfortably.
