For those of us who aren’t going out of town during the Holy Week, Metro Manila is always abuzz with Easter activities for kids. Almost all the hotels and malls have an Easter egg hunt going on, it’s just a matter of choosing where to go. This year, we decided to spend our Easter Sunday at Century City Mall.
Century City Mall’s Easter activity is a pirate-themed event entitled Eggventure Island. I believe I posted about this on my social networking accounts early this week. Kids were encouraged to come in costume as the one in the best costume was going to take home a prize.
Tickets cost P300 each. A ticket entitles your child to activities and freebies — you get some pirate loot and map for the egg hunt, a bouncy pirate ship stub, free balloon twisting, free popcorn, free snowcone, and free cotton candy.
Since we registered early (way before the Holy Week), my daughter got a personalized egg hunt map! Walk-in participants got one simply marked as “Treasure Map”. The map tells you where to look for eggs. We set off as soon as we got the map.
This is the Bouncy Pirate Ship. Kids can play in it for free upon presentation of the stub.
There were a lot of kids in elaborate pirate costumes. These two lady pirates were getting their free snowcones from the booth. 🙂
We were pretty much scampering around the mall looking for eggs and I was too busy running after my kids (my son is camera shy) so I was unable to take actual egg hunt photos.
Alas, we got sidetracked on the way to the “Golden Egg Cave” a.k.a. the cinema lounge. When we got there, the place had already been ransacked huhuhu… there was a dad who gleefully said “I got the golden egg!” and then bolted out. There seemed to be nothing left save for a box of old Christmas decors under the bar area. I couldn’t accept that there was nothing left so we poked around the old decors and what do you know, there was a gigantic golden egg underneath! I told my daughter to grab it. That was how big it was compared to the regular Easter eggs. I put it inside my Rume bag which served as our basket.
This is how BIG the golden egg we found was. We were told there was going to be an awarding ceremony after the Pirate Show.
My daughter went on stage last for the awarding (there were smaller golden eggs which got Toys R US GCs). When asked where she found the egg, she answered “the cinema”!
We had been planning to get our daughter a new tablet for sometime now, in fact I had been scouring the net for specs and prices. This is so timely!
