I attended the Downy Passion and Attraction Launch at Manila Peninsula Hotel last August 30, 2010.
I was quite excited because I really love the scent of Downy Attraction. I swear clothes that are washed in this end up smelling like a freshly opened balikbayan box from the US! I really love its refreshingly clean scent.
Manila Peninsula’s ballroom was transformed into a fragrance museum of sorts, with each scent note of Downy Passion and Attraction put on display inside glass cases. Downy Passion has a fruity scent comprised of Cedarwood (pictured above), Apple Blossom, Vanilla, and Freesia notes while Downy Attraction is more floral, made up of Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, and Rose essences. I don’t really like flowers and their scents so I much prefer Downy Passion. There were also fragrance swatches at the venue so you could sniff each note individually.
The event was hosted by Christine Jacob-Sandejas. Two international perfume experts were flown in for the occasion — Hector Esquinca, Section Head and Perfumer of P&G’s Kobe Technical Center in Japan and Shingo Ishii, Senior Scientist and Perfumer in the same organization. They gamely answered questions regarding scents in general and the two Downy variants being launched.
We were served a special themed sit-down lunch menu consisting of aromatic dishes which included:
The two new variants of Downy were unveiled. Is it obvious that I really prefer Downy Passion? Hahaha! There’s nothing quite like the fresh smell of a newly opened balikbayan box from the US on ALL your clothes… and the rest of the house when you’re doing the laundry. I love it! :p
