Ayutthaya One Day Private Tour with Boat Ride via Klook

Since it was my first time in Thailand, I didn’t really know my way around. We were traveling as a family with two seniors in tow so I had to plan our itinerary carefully. I decided to book Ayutthaya One Day Private Tour with Boat Ride via Klook. It cost around ₱2,800+ per person for a group of 6. Pricing varies a bit depending on the group size — the bigger the group the more expensive it gets. I attribute this to the fact that a bigger vehicle is needed. Anyhow, this package I picked included hotel pick-up and drop-off since I can’t really drag seniors around in search of meet-up points. We were picked up promptly at 9am and we headed straight for the Bang-In Summer Palace.

ayutthaya1We rented two golf carts at Bang-In Summer Palace. It cost 400 baht per cart for an hour. Each cart could seat 4 people. In order to drive it, you will need your driver’s license with you. They will ask to see it at the rental stall. The palace grounds are huge and this is only the first stop of the whole day tour so I suggest renting the cart to help you get around.

ayutthaya3The entire place is Instagrammable. This place was actually first used by the royal court as a summer retreat back in the 17th century. The palace was destroyed during the Fall of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya but was restored by King Rama IV in the mid-19th century.

ayutthaya4There are a lot of magnificent structures to see here. The cool and breezy 25°C December weather was perfect for it. We would go down from the cart and walk from time to time because the place is so conducive to strolls.

ayutthaya5Our next stop was Wat Chaiwatthanaram, or Wat Chai for short. It is said to be a replica of the Angkor Wat in Cambodia, built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong to honor his mother.

ayutthaya6We actually went inside some of the ruins just to see what was inside and saw this in one of the structures.

ayutthaya7After Wat Chai, we stopped for lunch at Ayutthaya Shrimp Market — specifically at a restaurant beside the Chao Phraya River. The food was good and reasonably priced. Food costs were out of pocket and not included in the tour package.

ayutthaya8After lunch we headed for Wat Maha That. It’s kind of similar to Wat Chai but different. Wat Chai had a more… mystical vibe.

ayutthaya9Our van driver told us to look for the Bodhi Tree at Wat Mahat That and we’re so glad we did! After Wat Mahtahat we stopped by a cafe called Rak na Ayutthaya and had some cold desserts.

ayutthaya10We went to see the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, Wat Lokayasutharam.

ayutthaya11Our last stop was Phom Phet Historical Park Pier for a sunset longtail boat ride.

ayutthaya12We went around Ayutthaya in a longtail boat and was able to see the sun setting behind Wat Chai. It was breathtaking.

The Ayutthaya One Day Private Tour with Boat Ride Klook Package is really great value for money. We were promptly picked up and dropped off our hotel by a Toyota Hiace Commuter Van. Our driver was super nice, helpful, and accommodating too. He could not really speak English but he used Google Translate to communicate with us effectively, even giving us tips on what to watch out for. My father-in-law got a headache and he went to buy some Tylenol for us while we were at one of the sites. The only expenses not covered by the package are food, golf cart rental at Bang-In Summer Palace, and of course souvenirs.

I have an Instagram video of our tour HERE. You can easily book it from Klook. I booked 1 week before our trip and it was all good.
