I realized something major recently. My blog, what you’re reading right now, is really truly my only safe space. I pay for the server space this occupies. The domain is renewed automatically every year. No one tells me what to do. Nobody can accuse me of doing whatever. This is the only corner of cyberspace I can claim as my own. My other accounts are just that — accounts on a third party platform. I have no control over them. They can be wiped out at any time.
If you follow me on Instagram, you might have an inkling of the shitshow happening over at Meta. My good friend Jeosen and I were bored out of our minds during lockdown so we put up a group for reviewing online purchases. We all couldn’t go out so we were pretty much ordering stuff online all the time. We invited our friends, relatives, and whoever was interested to join. That was back in 2020. Well, in 2025, that pandemic project became a 145k strong community on Facebook. It had been a huge part of our lives for the last 5 years. Yes, managing and maintaining it was hard work but it was something we actually enjoyed doing.
My personal FB account and the group got suspended last week as an effect of the Meta-wide bug along with numerous other groups. It went back up the next day. The community let out a collective sigh of relief. After a couple of days, my personal FB account suddenly got restricted and the group suspended. Facebook said I posted something related to dangerous individuals and terrorist activities in the group on June 24, 2025. They claimed to have taken my post down. The thing is, I didn’t post anything in the group on that date.
I paid for Meta Verification just so I could actually talk to FB Support. The thing is, Meta has zero sense of urgency. I appealed my case and requested for a review. Nobody can say how long it’s going to take. It can be a few days or a few months. In the meantime, we can’t stand idly by.
We put up a back-up group as soon as TBG The Budol Group went down the first time. We are currently rebuilding the community at TBG Real Reviews. A lot of community members have reached out to me and I’m hoping to get the word out with regards to our new space. We’ll be needing all the help we can get. We’re planning to port over relevant reviews and posts from the old group if we have to do so piece by piece. Lamenting what is currently out of reach is simply not an option. We’re still hoping to get the original group back up as we all know nobody has posted anything related to dangerous individuals or terrorism-related activities. It’s so hard to argue or defend yourself when there’s no one to talk to.
Thank you all for the continued support.
