Anyone who knows me knows how much I love cakes and desserts. A couple of weeks ago, I found my way to this cute and quaint little bakeshop along P. Guevara St. in San Juan City — The Kitchen of Carla & Elaine.
Upon entering I immediately asked what the bestseller was. I was told it was Almond Toffee (P765, pictured above).
Decadence (P675, pictured above) was also highly recommended by my friend Denise. It has since become my favorite cake.
Since Decadence was easier to slice than Almond Toffee, I can at least show you how deliciously moist the cake is from the inside. “Mommy this is the best cake I’ve ever tasted!” were my 9-year old son’s exact words the moment he put a spoonful in his mouth. We were also blown away by the rich caramel topping and filling that tasted like melted Almond Roca. Carla and Elaine’s simply does not skimp on the ingredients when it comes to their cakes and baked goods. I’m actually craving for a slice as I write this post.
Aside from dessert cakes, The Kitchen of Carla & Elaine also makes a variety of beautiful customized special occasion cakes.
Another big hit with my hubby and kids is Carla and Elaine’s Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies (P95, pictured above). The cookies cost P95 for 6 big pieces, which is really reasonable considering the top-notch quality and taste. They’re chewy and not overly sweet, and the chocolate chips are made of Belgian chocolates to boot. Perfect with a glass of cold milk! We all agree that these are the best. 😀
