I dropped by LUSH’s holiday event last week to check out possible Christmas gift items. I used to be so well-prepared for the season. I would usually be done shopping by October because I didn’t want to get caught in the holiday rush. Not anymore… in the last few years everything has pretty much been last minute. The event was held at the Grand Hyatt Residences Showroom at Bonifacio Global City. When I got to the entrance I thought I had the wrong venue because there were no signs or whatever… but when I opened the door, I knew I had come to the right place. I could smell the delicious scents of LUSH soaps emanating from high up the second level, haha.
Anyhow, I went around as soon as I got there. Let’s start with the Sandy Santa Body Butter (P325 each, pictured above). It looks like soap but it’s actually a sugar scrub in bar form. It exfoliates and softens your skin because aside from sugar and sand, it also contains coconut oil and organic shea butter.
Then there’s Melting Snowman (P175 each, pictured above). This is a softening soak, meaning, it’s meant to be dissolved in a tub full of water so you can immerse yourself and fully take in its aromatic skin softening benefits. It’s a purely vegan product made of cocoa butter and almond oil. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised by the price because I’ve always had the impression that there aren’t any items below P300 at LUSH.
I really liked the super cute The Christmas Penguin Bubble Bar (P225 each, pictured above). The way you use it is you crumble it under running water for an orange-scented bath with a flurry of white bubbles you can play with! This is so perfect for kids!
Ooh, I actually spotted something I want — Santa’s Lip Scrub (P425 per jar, pictured above left). It’s a sugar scrub for the lips which gently exfoliates any dry skin away. It smells like cola too. My lips usually have dry skin so I can’t apply lipstick without any preparation so this is the perfect product for me. There’s also Santa Baby Lip Tint (P425 per jar, pictured above right). It’s really red, so it’s very festive and perfect for your pout this holiday season.
I don’t know why but I thought this Noriko Soap (P245 per 100g, pictured above) looked yummy like cake. It’s made of Japanese-inspired ingredients like tofu, sake, and rice.
Then there’s the dainty and pretty Angel’s Delight (P225 per 100g, pictured above). I love the its candy-like citrusy scent.
Oh, in case you don’t want the usual paper and box wrappings for your gifts, LUSH now offers fabric gift wraps. What happens is you purchase a square-shaped cloth and the LUSH staff will wrap your gift items furoshiki-style for free.
There were a couple of interesting pocket activities during the event. For one, I got to make y very own Bath Ballistic. A Bath Ballistic is a scented orb you dissolve in a tub water for a fizzy one-of-a-kind bathing experience. Each one is formulated with essential oils which cleanse and relax the mind and body. Some even have popping candy, woot!
So anyway I watched the demo so I could make my own Avocado Bath Ballistic. You mix all the ingredients in powder form in a bowl and then put them inside the mold to form a ball. You leave it to set and then voila, you have a Bath Ballistic to take home a while later!
We also got to decorate our own soap. There were carving tools and molds provided.
I was kind of in a rush since I had to fetch my kids from school so all I could manage was this caveman-ish design on my Snowcake soap bar, hahaha!
So anyway, another reason why it’s a good idea to do your Christmas shopping at LUSH is because from November 18 to December 25, 2013 LUSH will be donating 5% of the sales of any of their Christmas products and pre-packed gift sets to Supertyphoon Yolanda relief efforts.
