Kenji Tei Ramen House

Kenji Tei Ramen House in Greenbelt 5

Brought the kids to Kenji Tei Ramen House in Greenbelt 5 last weekend. My daughter wanted to check out Ayala Museum afterwards so we were at the restaurant by 11am. We also wanted to avoid the 12nn lunch crowd.  Kenji Tei Ramen House is located at the 3rd floor of Greenbelt 5, across ZARA. They also have a branch at Alabang Town Center. They have seats inside and outside the restaurant. We chose to stay inside beside where the fan was because I didn’t find the GB5 corridor cool enough.

Kenji Tei Ramen HouseWe ordered Salmon Sashimi (₱310) which is my daughter’s favorite. It was okay.

Kenji Tei Ramen HouseWe also tried their 3 Kinds Sashimi (₱400) which consisted of salmon, tuna, and squid sashimi. We finished everything except the squid, although it’s more of because the texture of squid in general really isn’t to our liking.

Kenji Tei Ramen HouseTenshindon (₱320) was next on the agenda. The kids said it gave them Chinese food vibes and with good reason — Tenshindon is actually a Japanese Chinese specialty wherein a crabmeat omelet is placed on top of rice (they used Japanese rice so yum) and served with sauce. If you were to pick a rice dish to try here, this one is recommended.

Kenji Tei Ramen HouseTheir Crispy Chicken Teriyaki (₱380) is definitely a must-try. I’m not really fond of chicken but this dish really blew me away. The chicken is crispy outside, tender and juicy inside, with just the right amount of teriyaki sauce drizzled on. It’s unbelievably good, even the kids liked it a lot. Our only complaint is the small serving size.

Kenji Tei Ramen HouseKatayaki Soba (₱420) is reminiscent of Chinese Crispy Fried Noodles. It was good.

Kenji Tei Ramen HouseSizzling Beef Teppan (₱680) is surprisingly good, the beef is super tender and they cooked it in just the right amount of butter.

Kenji Tei Ramen HouseThey cook Ebi Tempura (₱560 for 5 pieces) so well — perfectly battered to a light and flaky crispness. It’s also perfectly fried with just the right ratio of batter and shrimp. This is definitely one of the better done Ebi Tempuras we have tried.

Overall, Kenji Tei Ramen House is a good all-around Japanese restaurant with all the usual Japanese comfort food and then some innovative dishes like the Crispy Chicken Teriyaki. It’s well worth a try as they cook their menu items really well. Service is excellent as well, the servers are all very attentive and helpful. My only complaint is the air-conditioning inside the restaurant is not sufficient, although they try to compensate for this with electric fans.
