I posted about the Starbucks Planner 2014 a few days ago, but red cups have always been the official symbol of Christmas at Starbucks. That said, I’m happy to announce that the red cups are here! Yes, it’s officially Christmas 2013 at Starbucks!
We had little tasting portions of Starbucks’ Christmas drinks — that I am thankful for since there are six kinds in all… six because the three variants all have hot and cold versions that do not taste alike!
This year’s Christmas beverage lineup is comprised of the following:
- Gingerbread Latte (P160 Tall / P175 Grande / P185 Venti) – This is definitely my favorite Starbucks Christmas drink. I liked both the hot and cold versions. I love the aroma of freshly baked gingerbread and the not overly sweet cinnamon-y taste of the drink.
- Toffee Nut Latte (P160 Tall / P175 Grande / P185 Venti) – Buttery and nutty. ‘Nuff said.
- Peppermint Mocha (P160 Tall / P175 Grande / P185 Venti) – Hubby’s choice… since he loves mint chocolate chip ice cream. This is like the drink version of mint chocolate chip ice cream, lol.
As for the food, well, in true Starbucks tradition we have returning favorites and new additions. This one is a returning favorite — the Chocolate Toffee Nut Loaf (P65 slice / P595 whole). I love how packed, moist, and chewy this is. It’s kind of like rich chocolate pound cake topped with bits of toffee crunch. My daughter loves having it with a glass of cold milk.
Another returning favorite albeit given a slight makeover for 2013 is the Peppermint Brownie (P75, pictured above). Very fudgy and minty. Love it with plain old hot brewed coffee!
Then there’s the Chicken Fajita Roll (P95, pictured above). Filled with chicken breast and cream cheese spiked with pimiento then baked with cheddar cheese on top, this is a cheese lover’s dream come true. My son loves this.
Roasted Chicken and Bacon Wrap (P170, pictured above) shocked me with how good it was. No wonder — it’s filled with all my favorites… garlic-roasted chicken (I may not like chicken but I love garlic), bacon, sauteed vegetables… it all comes together with that seemingly Mexican-inspired garlic sauce. Yum!
Then there were two sandwiches: Holiday Turkey Chicken with Apple Cranberry on Pistachio Cranberry Bread (P170, front) and Glazed Pork Ham on German Bread (P170, back). I super super loved the Glazed Pork Ham on German Bread. I felt I was eating pineapple-drizzled hamonado in sandwich form.
Here’s something new: Chocolate Salted Caramel Pecan Roll (95, pictured above). This is kind of like a cross between a croissant and an ensaymada but it’s basically a cinnamon roll. It’s got every sinful little thing you can think of — Belgian chocolate, vanilla cream, salted caramel… definitely good with hot coffee.
This has always been my favorite — White Chocolate Cranberry Cookie (P60, pictured above). Its huge size makes the price worth it. Super chewy and chunky at the same time, you can actually feel the blocks of white chocolate and taste the tangy cranberry in your mouth with every bite. I love these cookies!
The Gingerbread Cookie (P65, pictured above) now comes in the form of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Cute and yummy, I love this too. I’m addicted to gingerbread.
Christmas is never complete without cakes and Starbucks has two new ones: Chocolate Hazelnut Cake with Nutella (P110 slice / P1,195 whole), a rich chocolate cake covered in Nutella buttercream icing. I don’t like Nutella and so this was just okay for me but my daughter can’t get enough of it.
Triple Decker Cheesecake with Snickers (P130 slice / P1,395 whole) is the second cake. This one I really enjoyed. It’s cheesecake filled with Snickers chocolate bits, peanut butter, and marshmallows. The crust is made of chocolate cookies and the cake is topped with chocolate fudge. OMG. It’s so decadent but it’s so hard to resist and it’s so hard to stop eating once you start.
