I consider myself fortunate for having been a part of the first ever Dove Summit held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel last April 2-3, 2014. I received the invitation before my dad passed away and I initially thought I would not be able to make it. Anyhow, I was exhausted from having spent an entire week at the wake so I was kind of looking forward to some mid-week relaxation time.
We settled in the Dove lounge upon arriving at the hotel. We were served snacks and drinks.
Unilever’s Apples Aberin and event host Lexi Schulze welcomed us and instructed us to go to our rooms and remove all our makeup. I wasn’t wearing any when I got there because it was kind of a stressful day. I came from the office and I was driving a coding car so I had to squeeze in the coding window coming from Quezon City.
I did proceed to the room so I could freshen up. A monogrammed pillow was waiting for me on the bed.
There was a blue and white floral arrangement and a jar of delicious Lace Cookies courtesy of Dove Philippines.
When I went into the bathroom to freshen up, a whole arsenal of Dove products greeted me! Had I known I wouldn’t have brought along a heavy toiletry kit, lol.
Anyhow after freshening up and changing into my white top, I once again proceeded to the Dove lounge.
Surprise, Apples and Lexi told us we were all going to have a photo shoot… with no makeup. I felt like a mess but hey, bahala na.
Cheers to my no makeup self. I was assigned to photographer Joanne Bitangcol. She was such a jolly, funny person I wish I could have taken a photo with her!
After the shoot we went into our rooms and then met up once more for dinner.
Then I brought out my laptop and worked until maybe 2am, lol. Marj stayed with me before going off to bed. We should’ve taken pajama pics, lol.
I usually have no problem going out without makeup unless I have something like a breakout so the makeup removal part of the activity was not as traumatizing for me as it was for others. I do however feel more confident with at least some on, lol. I’m quite minimalistic because I can actually live without eye shadow and blush. Dove is all about real beauty and real care. It’s taking care of what you have and showing the world the real you, not hiding behind something else.
