I’ve been unboxing beauty boxes for over a year now but I still get super excited with each one. For today, I shall reveal the contents of the BDJ Box for April 2014. It’s a special edition box featuring exclusively Pixy cosmetic products.
The Pixy line of beauty products is from Mandom Corporation in Japan. Mandom is the maker of Gatsby, a popular line of hair, face, and body care products that have been sold in department stores and drugstores for years. I’ve been seeing Gatsby around since my college days. Although Pixy’s mother company is Japanese, the brand is mainly sold in Indonesia. Now it’s available in the Philippines.
The box was pretty heavy so I was sure it was going to be packed with full-sized products.
Let’s start with these lipsticks. One of the makeup products I can’t do without is lip color. I just don’t feel complete without it, lol. This box gives you three:
- Pixy Silky Fit Lipstick Satin in Autumn Apricot (P245, above left)
- Pixy Silky Fit Lipstick Semi Matte in Haruka (P265, above center)
- Pixy Silky Fit Lipstick Lasting Matte in Pink Smoothie (P325, above right)
You also get Pixy Blush On in Carnation Bloom (P285, above left) and Pixy Eye Liner Pencil in Black (P265, above bottom). I kind of expect a carnation shade to be pink but this blush shade is pretty orange.
There’s also Pixy Volumizing Waterproof Mascara (P295, pictured above). I was surprised at the price point of this mascara.
Pixy Ultimate Makeup Cake in Natural Buff (P445, pictured above) is the priciest product in the box. It promises oil-control, ample coverage, sun protection, and 8 hours of lasting power. The shade looks too dark for me though. When it comes to foundation products it’s always hit or miss when it comes to shading where boxes are concerned. The good news is, this shade will probably suit most Filipina skin tones.
There are however, two more chances to score the correct powder shade in this box since it also includes Pixy UV Whitening Two Way Cake Perfect Fit Compact in Natural Beige (P275, above left) and a refill of Pixy UV Whitening Two Way Cake Perfect Matte in Honey Beige (P145, above right). In my case though, both are still too dark.
Starting this month, I’ll make it a point to include a mini-review of one product from the box to go with the unboxing. This time, I’m picking the Pixy Silky Fit Lipstick Lasting Matte in Pink Smoothie. Sorry I was too lazy to apply any other makeup product so it’s just my bare face with lipstick, lol. I liked how the lippie went on smoothly. I always expect dryness and tugging when it comes to matte lipsticks but this one was relatively easy to apply, kind of like Shu Uemura’s Matte Lipstick. This is how it looks under the warm artificial lights of our bedroom.
Although the color is called Pink Smoothie, it’s really kind of on the more peach/coral side. This is how it looks like under the fluorescent lights of my bathroom.
I didn’t do a full test drive since I was just at home but I thought it looked nice, albeit I don’t think coral is my shade as I feel it makes my teeth look yellowish. It was easy to remove though, so that’s another plus.
The contents of this box are worth P2,545 — that’s 4x the P580 montly subscription fee! Everything is full-sized too. Love it!
