The PLDT Home Telpad Quad Core Launch!

Some weeks ago, I went to Vyne for the first time to witness the launch of the PLDT Home Telpad Quad Core. But before I go on, what is the PLDT Home Telpad?

A Telpad is a phone unit with a tablet which existing PLDT MyDSL or PLDT Fibr subscribers can avail of by upgrading to any PLDT Telpad plan. All PLDT Home Telpad plans include unlimited local calls, unlimited internet, and exclusive multimedia services (Spinner, Electronic Arts, ClickPlay, MyPinoyTV, N5E, and Hey U). The Telpad unit is free for all plans with no cash out. In effect, it’s an online landline.

Anyhow, the PLDT Home Telpad just got a big boost since it’s now equipped with a powerful Quad Core processor and an Android 4.1.2 Jellybean OS.

To show us what the Telpad Quad Core can do, we were each given three stubs for booths where we could try them out for ourselves. We get to watch, listen, and play!

We first proceeded to the booth that wasn’t crowded, the Name That Tune booth. Each booth presents its own challenge. If you’re the top scorer in any of the booths, you get to play against PLDT Home online ambassadors Doug and Cheska Kramer a.k.a. Team Kramer for bigger prizes!

I needed to guess 3 out of 5 songs in the fastest time possible. I didn’t do so well, haha. I did manage to identify “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele and 2 songs by One Direction which I had forgotten the titles of. I got a PLDT tumbler for my efforts, lol. You can download songs on your Telpad via Spinnr.

The next booth was more interesting for me, it was the Ready Set Go booth where we could play a racing game using the Telpad’s tablet. I managed to place 3rd and I got a PLDT notepad for it! Since the Telpad is equipped with a quad core Android tablet, you can download games and apps from Google Play. Or you could download really snazzy premium games from premiere video game company Electronic Arts directly, an exclusive service offered to Telpad subscribers. Nice, don’t you think? You can hook it up to your TV for a more immersive experience.

The last booth we visited was the Now Showing booth. Like Name That Tune, it’s a guessing booth, only this time, you will be shown movie trailers and you will have to guess the movie titles. The prize here is a PLDT umbrella. Yes, you can stream movies on your Telpad via ClickPlay or watch TV via MyPinoyTV then hook it up to a bigger screen so you can enjoy viewing with the whole family. You’ll never be behind when it comes to news since the Telpad comes with News 5 Everywhere (N5E).

The PLDT Home Telpad also has Hey U, a call service app which lets you connect easily with your loved ones — you can avail of rates as low as P1.50 per minute for calls to US, Canada, and Hawaii!

I loved the movie-themed table centerpieces at the event! Aren’t they cute? I’ve watched all those movies too!

PLDT Home Telpad also unveiled Team Kramer (Doug and Cheska Kramer) as its new online ambassadors! Three lucky high scorers from the booths got to face off with them for Name That Tune, Ready Set Go, and Now Showing. They got to take home Sodexho GCs as their prizes!
