This is a late post but I’d like to share one of several Christmas gatherings I attended last month. It happened in the relatively newly opened Nest Modern Table and Bar at The Fort.
Nest is a serious fine dining place which morphs into a bar with drinks and music in the later hours of the evening. It’s situated atop the The W Building on 5th Avenue in Bonifacio Global City.
It was a sweet and simple Christmas dinner with beauty bloggers Sab, Martha, Angela, Tara, Liz, Sophie, Julia, Nicole, Marj, Nikki, and Shen. We had food, drinks, and an exchange gift!
While waiting for the food, we were served some freshly baked bread. These are oh-so-soft and yummy, served with unsalted butter and salt so you can have them whichever way you like. I think I had three of these.
First appetizer out was Spiced Sweet Potato Fries (P200, pictured above). Crunchy seasoned kamote strips sprinkled with truffle oil, crispy pork, sriracha aioli, and blue cheese sauce, everyone loved this. It’s a great dish to whet your appetites with. 😀
Next up was Ham and Eggs (P250, pictured above) — Jamon Serrano, poached egg, pea and mint salad, shaved parmesan cheese, and truffle oil. Delicious!
Foie Gras and Mushrooms (P550, pictured above) wowed us all, simple as it was with just foie gras, croutons, parmesan cheese, and poached egg drizzled with balsamic vinegar. The foie gras was very smooth and buttery, definitely one of the better foie gras I’ve had in Metro Manila.
Then the main dishes started coming in starting with Fillet of Salmon (P650, pictured above). Norwegian Salmon is cooked with Miso Sake Sauce and served with brown rice, veggies, roe, and bonito flakes. This was gone in seconds. For such a flavorful dish it was delightfully light and not greasy.
5 Spiced Pork Belly (P250, pictured above) was another hit. It’s a Chinese-inspired fusion dish of sliced incredibly tender Kurobuta pork belly and soy garlic noodles with sesame cucumber relish. I could eat just this and be perfectly happy.
Then we were served Rack of Lamb (P950, pictured above). I don’t eat lamb because I can’t stand the gamey scent so I skipped this. Those who eat lamb said it’s very good though.
Last of the main dishes was the Chili Barbecue Chicken (P525, pictured above), half chicken served with lemon slaw, baby potatoes, and bacon. I was so full I just had a taste of the slaw and the potatoes.
But we were still up for desserts starting with Reese’s Sansrival (P200, pictured above). I loved the combination of peanut butter cream and strawberries!
Chocolate Textures (P200, pictured above) is puts together different layers of chocolate — brownie, spongecake, mousse… there’s a raspberry layer too plus a strawberry on top.
Last dessert out was Donuts and Dips (P200, pictured above). Circular donuts served with 3 kinds of dip — Peanut Butter Cream, Salted Caramel, and Strawberry Jam. The donuts were not as soft as I would’ve liked, in fact they were kind of hard to bite into and chew.
Nest makes for a great date place with its low-light elegant ambience. Food is good and there are a lot of reasonably priced dishes you can order if you don’t want to spend too much. There’s a club called Raven located next to Nest which had a huge Christmas party with really loud blaring music which was kind of distracting so I’m guessing it’s better to visit during weekdays and non-holidays? Reservations are recommended. They’re only open from 5pm to 2am.
Thank you Nest Manila for hosting our Christmas dinner! It was fun hanging out with the beauties! Thank you ladies for the company and the gifts! 😀
