Nasi Lemak’s P128 “Economic Meals” at Robinsons Galleria

Before anything else, I just want to point out that this entire blog post features photos taken by the Xiaomi Mi3 cellphone‘s camera. I just posted my full review of the phone so I thought I’d take it a step further by following up with a blog post using photos taken with it.

Anyway, hubby and I had some business in Ortigas last week. Thus we decided to have lunch at Robinsons Galleria where we were parked. We saw some posters for budget meals outside Nasi Lemak and decided to check it out.

The “Economic Meals” are actually rice toppings that cost P128 each. You have a choice between chicken, pork, fish, and beef. Each comes with a glass of iced tea and a bowl of soup. I asked the waiter how the chicken, pork, fish, and beef are cooked and he said it’s roast chicken, sweet and sour pork, fish fillet with tofu, and beef with brocolli. All the viands come with stir-fried veggies on the side.

We ordered Japanese Tofu Chorizo (P260, pictured above). It’s deliciously interesting — silken tofu is lightly breaded and then topped with very tasty chorizo.

Hubby opted for the Fish “Economic Meal”. The iced tea and soup were served first.

Then the meal itself followed — typical Chinese-style fish fillet with tofu with veggies on the side on top of steamed white rice.

I didn’t get an “Economic Meal”, I had the Nasi Goreng (P268, pictured above). It’s fried rice, Indonesian-style, topped with a fried egg and served with atchara and two sticks of chicken satay with peanut sauce. I liked it, the rice had onions, carrots, green peas, eggs, bits of dried fish, and peanuts. It was good but I couldn’t finish the rice as it was a very generous helping.

We ordered Onde Onde (P168, pictured above) for dessert. It was served steaming hot because they make it only when you order it (it takes about 10-15 minutes so order it in advance!). It’s glutinous sticky rice balls filled with gula melaka (palm sugar) and coated with desiccated coconut.

OMG. Hubby and I agreed it’s one of the best desserts we’ve ever tasted. It was pure heaven biting into the chewy sticky rice ball filled in the middle with warm and syrupy palm sugar. I love how it’s not overly sweet. I can eat a whole order by myself!
We had a nice satisfying lunch at Nasi Lemak. I initially wanted to just have an “Economic Meal” and then go so we wouldn’t spend and eat too much but we ended up having appetizer and dessert as well, lol. No regrets, I’d gladly go back if just to eat more Onde Onde!

The “Economic Meals” are available from 10am to 11:30am and 3pm to 5:30pm.

How do you find the photos? They were all taken using the Xiaomi Mi3. 🙂
