I visited SM City Fairview for the first time last Wednesday for the launch of SM Cyber Month, a tech affair celebrated by all SM Supermalls nationwide.
I live in Quezon City but wow, it was only then that I realized that although SM City Fairview is also in Quezon City, it’s actually almost 20km away from my house — further distance-wise compared to SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. But I found it easier to get to because the roads leading to it, Commonwealth Avenue and Regalado Avenue, are simply wide and straight. It usually takes me 45 minutes to an hour to go to MOA, surprisingly SM Fairview is only 30-45 minutes by car.
August is SM Cyber Month, a month-long treat for techie folks. There’s a Cyber Month Tech Sale which showcases the latest and the best consumer electronics (meaning gadgets and appliances!) so now is a good time to go get what you need.
The first thing I noticed when I got to the event area was the gigantic LG TV set up. Wow! TVs surely have come a long way. We have a 46-inch LCD TV in our room and this makes it look miniscule.
And look, LG now has mosquito repelling air-conditioning units! This is a very timely innovation because it’s dengue season once again according to my kids’ schools.
Anyhow, the official event launch was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Look, Bumble Bee from The Transformers was there! And for good reason — because SM Supermalls is also mounting the first ever Cyberzone Cosplay Craze happening on August 22 and 23 at SM North EDSA.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by (from left to right): Vincent Chua, Assistant Mall Manager of SM City Fairview; Lea Casamayor, Mall Manager of SM City Fairview; MJ Salinas, Marketing Manager of SM Appliance Center Fairview branch; Stephen Ong, Assistant Store Manager of SM Appliance Center Fairview branch; Patrick Raymund Pacla, AVP of SM Cyberzone; Lorena So, ISM Head for LG Trade Marketing, and Johanna Rupisan, AVP for Operations of Central North.
Then LG had a brief demo. Did you know that you can mirror your smartphone’s screen on the gigantic HDTV screen?
The LG G4’s camera is really something else, they said it can mimic the effect of a DSLR camera.
As if the TV and smartphone connectivity wasn’t awesome enough, they went on to demonstrate how you can conduct a diagnostic test for your LG washing machine using your LG smartphone. It bases the diagnosis on the sound your washing machine makes.
After the smartphone determines your washing machine’s problem, it will contact the LG service center via the internet or give you a choice to call by phone.
After the launch, we all stopped by Gerry’s Grill in SM City Fairview for merienda.
Aside from gadget and appliance deals, fun activities await SM mall-goers this August. SM Cyberzone has teamed up with Smart Communications Inc. for the biggest Clash of Clans tournament in the country dubbed as the Philippine Clash 2015 with over P2 million worth of prizes at stake. The tournament started last Aug. 2, building up to the grand CoC battle on September 26 at SM Mall of Asia. Smart will also hold its Smart Bro Gadget Expo at SM North EDSA starting August 28. All Smart subscribers can avail of discounted devices, join gadget auctions, raffles, attend tech talks, and check out product demos.
I definitely had a lot of wow moments at the SM Cyber Month launch in SM City Fairview. It sure promises to be an exciting and eventful month of August for everyone! 😀
